Ondo drug robbers arrested in Onitsha

The suspects were arrested in Onitsha, Anambra State, according to the Police  Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Aremu Adeniran. He said  the robbers disarmed the seven security officials on duty before robbing the hospital store, carting the items  into the lorry they  drove  to the CMS premises.
He said,  “The police mounted strict surveillance at some of the major markets across the country.
“Specific attention was paid to two special drugs that were specially ordered for from overseas by the state government and the strategy worked.
“The drugs were invariably sighted at the Onitsha Head Bridge (Anambra State) drug market, popularly called Ogbogwu market.
“This led to the arrest of five of the armed robbers and the stolen drugs.
“Large quantities of of the stolen drugs worth N2m have been recovered.”
Adeniran  said, “It is pertinent to state that the same syndicate had carried out some nefarious and dastard crimes at Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and the Kogi State Central Medical Stores and escaped without being caught.”
He said efforts were on to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.
