The
Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed
Bello Adoke, SAN, on Friday admitted that Nigeria is gradually
descending to anarchy going by the spate of civil disturbances in parts
of the country.
The AGF, who spoke in an address at the
valedictory session held in honour of the outgoing Chief Justice of
Nigeria, Justice Dahiru Musdapher, at the Supreme Court in Abuja,
pointed to the activities of the Boko Haram sect, as well as the killings in Jos, Plateau State, as signs that the country was troubled.
But Adoke said the Federal Government was working hard to arrest the unsavoury situation.
The minister assured that everybody indicted for the civil disturbances would be prosecuted.
“Government is concerned about the spate of civil disturbances across the country. The recent Boko Haram and Jos crises are unfortunate examples that have evoked a lot of emotions and public condemnation,” Adoke said.
